Begin gathering documentation that might be required. An underwriter may need certain data to fully approve your loan.

Here is an abbreviated list of items that might be needed:

  • W-2s and 1099s for the last two years

  • Signed 1040's with all schedules for the last two years

  • Most current 30-days pay stubs

  • Bank or asset statements for the last two months (all pages)

  • Copy of front and back of driver license

As mentioned in the Traverse City Business News Cover Article: Wire Fraud Strikes Local Real Estate Firms, Home Buyers, wire fraud in real estate transactions has been an escalating issue across the country.

Don't change employers, become self-employed or quit your current job

  • Lenders will evaluate your last two years of employment.  Self-employed borrowers generally need two years of tax returns to support their income.

Assess your available funds

  • How much have you saved?

  • You may not have to make any down payment at all.

  • Do you have access to any gift funds from family members?

For millions of moderate-income home buyers, there’s an important money-saving question looming in 2017: Will Congress reinstate deductions for mortgage insurance premiums as part of its overhaul of the federal tax code?

The authorization for this benefit to middle-income owners expired on Dec. 31, 2016. As a result, it will not be available for borrowers during 2017 and beyond unless reauthorized through congressional action.

Mortgage insurance premiums are charged by lenders when borrowers make a down payment of less than 20%.

After careful deliberation of many quality applicants the Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® (TAAR) has selected Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan as its Primary Nonprofit Partner for the next two years

In this partnership, the TAAR members will become a prominent Corporate Sponsor of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan, volunteer to mentor children, support and participate in events, and strengthen community partnerships of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northwestern Michigan in the region.
